The electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a method to read the heart health. The heart is responsible for the flow of blood throughout the body and its role is the most important. The EKG technician training allows students to learn how to do cardiovascular system tests in a proper way. When there is an irregularity in the functioning of the heart, the individual may experience problems due to irregular flow of blood. Thus, the EKG tests are taken to check the electrical signals generated by the heart.

All actions such as tensing and expanding of the chambers of the heart are observed by electrical signals generated by a node in the upper right atrium of the heart. These “electrical” signals are unnoticeable, but that is how the heart works! Picking up a live electrical cable with bare hands is very dangerous because the body is electrically conductive. The electrical signals of the heart with the atoms and electrons in the body make humans a conductor.

Thus, ECG readings are obtained by the electrodes attached to the body. These metal electrodes are attached at about 12 points on the body. Generated medical videos provide very clear information. The EKG technician needs to know how to attach these electrodes to the chest, back, hands and legs so that the rhythm of the heart can be monitored. The report will appear on the screen in about five to ten minutes. Admittedly, the interpretation may take longer. So, looking at the report, you will see a graph. The electrical pulses created by cardiac activity are recorded in the different sections of the graph in the form of waves that are interpreted by the EKG specialists.

The EKG tests are performed for the diagnosis of heart disease or ailments. This is a very useful diagnostic tool. However, it can be used in routine examinations to confirm that the person is fit and check for signs that could lead to future problems.
